History
In February 1995 two CT-based Organizers – Anita Taylor and Judith Kirk – met at a National Association of Professional Organizer’s (NAPO) regional conference in Albany, New York. A friendship blossomed and they continued to meet periodically over the next several years, to share issues that developed as their organizing businesses grew. Several more CT-based Organizers joined the casual gathering and word spread that a NAPO was growing in CT.
In January 1998 the official CT Informal Group began with monthly meetings at the Holiday Inn in North Haven. These official meetings attracted the attention of new organizers and continued to grow. Jo Ann Sheldon was our leader for the first two years. The hard work of seeking chapter recognition began when Faith Manierre accepted the leadership position in 2002. Faith’s enthusiasm and unlimited energy kept the volunteer by-laws committee plowing forward until the moment arrived when we were ready to submit documentations to headquarters for chapter recognition.
Today there are more than 50 NAPO-CT Chapter members and they represent all areas of our state. We continue to work diligently at developing and growing the public’s awareness of NAPO and our Connecticut Chapter.
